Let's Talk Turkey!

Thanksgiving is three weeks away. It is time to start thinking about your menu. The biggest expense to an organic menu at Thanksgiving is the Turkey, followed by wine or champagne.

Here is a break down of where you can get organic turkeys, and the approximate prices. I definitely have found that Costco offers the best price, but not everyone has access to a Costco or has a membership, so I compiled a list of options.

Costco: Organic Free Range Turkeys $2.29/lb Whole Foods: Organic Turkey $3.39/lb

D'Artagnan: Organic Free Range Turkey 8-10 lbs & up $44.99 + shipping. Order on their website. Order by November 19th to ensure Thanksgiving delivery!

Amazon:   Organic Free Range Turkey 14-16lbs $163.50 + shipping. Get the Nature's Prime items above, but through Amazon. Not a great deal unless you have a boat load of swagbucks. Order online at Amazon.com.

Wise Organic Pastures: Whole Organic Turkey 12-13 lbs $63.00 + shipping. Order online on their website.

Organic Prairie:  Organic Whole Young Turkey with Giblets approx. 14 lbs. $54.00 ($44.00 with coupon) + shipping. Enter coupon code: FFTH10 to get the $10.00 off. Order online on their website. Order by November 15th to ensure Thanksgiving delivery!

You can also check out Local Harvest to find a farm near you that will have Turkey's available. Check your local health food stores as well and see what they are offering. If you can get one for $2.29/lb or less, I would say you are getting a great deal!

If you have found a great deal on organic Turkey's let us know in the comments!
