Organic Garlic Pepper Roasted Pumpkin Seeds Recipe

Not sure what to do with all those pumpkin seeds? Here is an easy recipe to roast them that even the kids will enjoy. My six year old gobbled these down.

  • Raw Pumpkin Seeds (washed)
  • Organic Garlic Powder
  • Organic Ground Pepper
  • Organic Coconut Oil

Wash the pumpkin seeds so that there is no more orange pumpkin guts residue left on them. I usually soak them in some water and then use a colander to get them clean and dry. Then put them on a paper towel or tea towel to dry a little.

Place the clean seeds into a baking dish. I used a Le Creuset baker for mine, but glass and stainless will work fine. I "greased" the dish with coconut oil to prevent them from sticking.

Spread the seeds out as much as possible, and every 15 minutes or so, use a spoon to move them around to obtain even roasting and prevent them from sticking to each other.

Add garlic powder and pepper to taste on all of the seeds and roast in the oven at 300 for 45 minutes. I have seen some recipes that boil the seeds before roasting them. I haven't tried this method, but it is an option.

I used the seeds from an organic sugar pie pumpkin. I got mine at my local health food store, but Whole Foods also carries them. Carving pumpkin seeds will also work fine.
